A Message of Gratitude

Catio Guy Facebook Page

The following note was posted to my Catio Guy Facebook page yesterday. I have so much gratitude for that group, which has more than 2,700 followers, and helps us spread the positive lifesaving catio message far and wide. I encourage website visitors to both read the heartfelt letter and follow the page.

Facebook Message

Friends,

And I mean that wholeheartedly. While I do not personally know most of you, I do consider you friends. Who but friends would take the time to like this page and thus support my career? Who but friends would show overwhelming kindness and compassion upon learning about my sweet Cooper’s lung mass? With that, friends:

I launched Custom Catios two years ago believing there was a market for high-end custom cat enclosures. I knew in my heart of hearts that cat parents want the best for their furbabies, and creating safe stimulating outdoor spaces was a no-brainer. Along the way, I heard from a lot of naysayers. “That’s crazy.” “That’s not scalable.” “Why not create a prefab product that can be shipped anywhere?” But why would I enter a space with so many great companies, including Habitathaven, Purrfect Catio, and Cats on Deck?

My vision, instead, was to design and build unique structures based on the cats, the humans, and the on-the-ground conditions. A young Savannah cat has different needs than an aging orange tabby. A professional rescuer has different needs than a traditional family. And an ocean front estate provides different possibilities than an eighth floor apartment. My goal was to take all factors into consideration, create the best possible catios, and enhance both feline and cat parent lives. And we’ve succeeded in doing that.

While I have a special place in my heart for each client who has entrusted me with the lives of their precious furballs, I am also eternally grateful to this community for helping spread the catio message far and wide. And the importance of that cannot be understated. The more people in Los Angeles, in California, in the United States, and in the world are educated about the perils of the outdoors, the more cat lives, bird lives, and small animal lives will be saved. That has become my life’s calling.

Thus, when I share our latest catio creation, I not only hope to spark ideas for people to copy for their own cats, but to educate the larger community about the benefits of enclosures. And every time you view, like, comment on, and share catio photos, you are helping spread that positive lifesaving message. Together, I firmly believe we are making a difference.

As such, I wanted to take a moment to express my gratitude to each of you who have formed this tiny Facebook community. I pinch myself every morning knowing that I have the best job in the world. I get to meet beautiful bundles of furry personality every day, build amazing catios, and spread a message about loving our pets and the environment.

With all my heart, THANK YOU!
